Kila Kila

The name Kila Kila is derived from Sanskrit language meaning ‘the sound of joy’, which suitably describes the entire atmosphere of this restaurant. Upon entrance to its doors on the seventh floor of Lot 4 Building SCBD, you will be greeted by hundreds of colourful and spinning paper windmill decorations, as if you’re walking into a fun party. It’s casual and homey, smart and sensible, modern yet eclectic. The restaurant is divided into two parts: an indoor dining area that is more suitable for families and a smoking semi-outdoor area. The menu features traditional delicacies from different regions from Java to Sumatra and highlights the richness of the archipelago. Craving for something hearty, we tried a few of Kila Kila’s best-selling items, from the traditional sour and sweet short ribs soup Pindang Iga Sapi to the spicy Ayam Bakar Kalio. For seafood lovers, we highly recommend Gurame Acar Kuning, deep fried Gourami fish served with turmeric-based sauce. The fish was as crunchy as it should be and the sauce couldn’t be more mouthwatering. Another favourite is Udang Gule Asem, an adventurous take on king prawns lavished with hot and sour coconut milk curry. If it’s joy Kila Kila wants to spread to Jakarta foodies, it has served its purpose very well. Kila Kila by Akasya opens from 11am to 11pm.
