“Jakarta Bites” Wins 1st Prize at Gourmand World Cookbook Awards

“Jakarta Bites” is a compilation of Petty’s interpretation of street food recipes from Jakarta - or Betawi cuisine - as well as iconic regional food from across the archipelago. Other nominated cookbooks in the category came from China, France, the Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK.
Petty wasn’t the only Indonesian to receive an award that night: food guru William Wongso won in the category of Favourite Book of the Year with his cookbook “Flavours of Indonesia”.
“It is great news for Indonesia to be recognized globally for our cuisine,” Petty said.
The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau. Every year, they honour the best food and wine books, printed or digital, as well as food television, attracting hundreds of entries from all over the world.
