Jakarta Gets into the Spirit of Things at Whisky Live!

November was a month of celebration for the many of the liquor and spirits brands, culminating in one big celebration at Whisky Live!

‘Whisky Live’, the biggest whisky event in Asia arrived in Jakarta where liquor and spirit lovers got the chance to discover more than 12 types of this exquisite beverage from renowned brands around the world—all in one place. Held in the Bali Room at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, the whisky event also presented special cocktail menus made by the best bars in Southeast Asia, art exhibitions, and masterclasses with international whisky experts.

Initiated by the Indonesia Whisky Research Society, the initial event received a positive response as around 2,000 whisky fans gathered to taste different flavour of the whisky from 17 best brands such as The Macallan, Singleton, and The Glendronach.

Besides whisky tasting, Whisky Live Jakarta also collaborated with Indonesia Luxury to showcase art during the two-day event where various artworks such as paintings and sculptures were exhibited, curated by ISA Art Advisory. Five artists such as Sinta Tantra, Arahmaiani, Irfan Hendrian, Rega Ayundya, and Aaron Taylor Kuffner showcased their artistic work with a focus on whisky culture.

Eight Limited Edition whisky bottles which had a artsy shape—created by local artists, curated by Vivi Yip Art Room— were auctioned by Deborah Iskandar, Founder of Indonesian Luxury. The proceeds from the auction were donated to ‘The Learning Farm’, a foundation that teaches organic farming to disadvantaged youth.

In conjunction with Whisky Live, Diageo Indonesia launched a campaign “Drink Positive 2.0” inviting speakers from Indonesia Whisky Research Society and Indonesian Business Association (APINDO) to promote responsible drinking to young people.
